Toyota Prius Hybrid Car

Toyota has green lit plans to offer solar panels on its popular Prius hybrid vehicle. The solar panel option will be available on the high-end Prius model when it receives a redesign in 2009. Strangely, the Japanese business newspaper also reports that the power generated by the solar panels will be used for the air conditioning system. The solar panels are being manufactured by Kyocera Corp. Previously, Gizmodo has covered some DIY solar panel options for the Prius, but the news today confirms that an official offering is now forthcoming from Toyota.

Porsche, Toyota and Peugeot

Now, this car is a really strange mixture between Porsche, Toyota and Peugeot but i think the “merge” was done pretty smooth and the result is definitely something unique. I don’t know the name for it, but you could post one here. The base car was a Porsche 928 s4 and the tuners wanted to transform it into a Peugeot combination from Peugeot 406 and 407. You’ll say: “Yeah, I’ve seen other cars transformed from one to the other” but this one has something different. This car also has Toyota elements. The front bumper from a Toyota Avensis has became the rear bumper for this Porsche/Peugeot.

Toyota prepares for sale 3rd generation of hybrid cars

Toyota Camry gets a facelift

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd has given its bestselling Toyota Camry a facelift, updating a variety of features to maintain the model’s prominence in the market.

The changes to the Camry, proclaimed the Autocar Asean car-of-the-year in 2007/2008, will not affect the engine of the car, which is available in 2.0 and 2.4 litre models. But the body and interior has been upgraded significantly.

UMW Toyota Motor’s president Kuah Kock Heng announced at the launch last week that the upgrades ensure "a touch of dynamism is blended into the premium feel to broaden its appeal."

Targeting "executives who want to make a difference", the company has made the car look sleeker with significant contour-sharpening changes to its front bumper and grille.

A new alloy rim design, with 10-spoke 16-inch rims for the 2.0 litre model and seven-twin-spoke 17 rims for the 2.4 litre models, adds a refreshing and exciting outlook to the car’s exterior design.

Additional exterior developments include High Intensity Discharge (HID) projector lamps to improve road

visibility, LED tail lights for increased response time, and cruise control functionality.

The new model responds to past criticisms with a redesigned interior that Kuah claimed aimed for a "graceful fresh ambience" through new generous mouldings that flow continuously from the upper dashboard to the doors and centre console.

This arrives with the car’s perforated leather seats, four-spoke leather steering wheels and spacious leg room.

Also new to UMW’s Toyota Camry is the Smart Entry & Start System, which is designed to unlock doors automatically when the owner comes into range of the vehicle with the car’s electronically-transmitting key.

The dashboard is integrated with features including a CD player, tuner, and a new auxiliary jack that will allow drivers to connect music players and iPods to the car’s 6-speaker audio system.

Toyota Camry’s original 2006 model sold over 26,000 units nationwide, and in the process has become Malaysia’s highest selling vehicle in the car industry’s executive sedan category.

Looking forward to great journeys ahead, the company forecasts domestic sales of over 1,000 Toyota Camry models each month until December this year.

The new Toyota Camry will retail at RM144,990 for the 2.0E version, RM154,990 for the 2.0G and RM174,990 for the 2.4V, including insurance for private registration.

F1 Panasonic Toyota racing ready for the Belgian Grand Prix

After last week’s update leading up to the European Grand Prix, Panasonic Toyota Racing’s Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock are back preparing for round twelve of the FIA Formula One World Championship, the Belgian Grand Prix, that will take place on the historic Spa racing circuit this coming Sunday, August 30th. Toyota Fortuner Launched in India at Rs 18.45 Lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd. launched its new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) Toyota Fortuner in Delhi.

New Toyota Fortuner SUV Car priced at Rs 18.45 Lakh ex-showroom in Delhi. Toyota Fortuner will be available in diesel variant in India.

Akira Okabe, senior managing director of Toyota Motor Corp, told reporters during the launch that Fortuner has sold 250,000 units in more than 60 countries since its launch in 2005. The SUV, he said, would be assembled at its plant in Bidadi near Bangalore.
