VIDEO // SUBIEFEST 2009 VIA RYAN DOUTHIT

Subiefest isn't just a regular event, it's our event. That is, our crew produces it. Every year we try to ratchet up the awesome, and this year I had what I though was a great last-minute idea: Formula D star Stephan Verdier was schedule to come out and show off his Drifto antics in a modified RWD Subaru STI - well, what if I provided myself as an obstacle? I mean, anyone can slide a car back-and-forth on a narrow track. But to get a car full-on sideways with someone blocking half the track? That certainly take a bit more than your average helping of skill.

In addition to this craziness, the video includes a walk-around of Mike McGuinness' Best in Show WRX Wagon, Ali Afshar's 1000hp WRX demo and more.

Special release Subaru Exiga 2.0GT tuned by STI

Since November, 4th in Japan sales of special release of car Subaru Exiga under the name 2.0GT tuned by STI have begun. Also this car is exposed on Tokyo Motor Show 2009.

Sport universal Subaru Exiga

The novelty is created on base 2.0GT and presented as a 7-seater sports car. The car is completed by exclusive 17-inch wheels from an aluminium alloy. Besides it, the forward part of the car, design of the panel of devices with illumination and the steering wheel fitted by a skin have undergone to changes the muffler. The new car also differs the exclusive lever of a gear change fitted by a skin. Still the car of special release is equipped with a sports forward bottom spoiler. Moreover, the car has system of start of the engine without key use.

The car of special series Exiga 2.0GT tuned by STI is made by the limited circulation and will be on sale till March, 14th of next year in number of only 300 copies.

The price will make 3,591,000 yens (taking into account the tax). Subaru 2.0GT tuned by STI it is presented in 4 colour variants: white nacre, a black, grey metallic and dark blue.

2009 Tokyo Motor Show: Concepts - Subaru Hybrid Tourer, Toyota FT-86 Concept, Mitsubishi PX-MiEV, Mazda Kiyora

Subaru Hybrid Tourer

Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept: Combining environmentally friendly technology and safety, the Subaru’s new concept maintains the automaker’s trademark symmetrical all-wheel drive system and horizontally opposed boxer engine but picks up a sporty design not seen previously on any of its vehicles. Under the sheet metal sits a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with direct injection

and turbocharging technologies, as well as a CVT and two electric motors--one on each axle.

Toyota FT-86 Concept

Toyota FT-86 Concept: After more than a year of rumors, theories and questions, the lovechild of the Toyota-Subaru joint venture has been unveiled. This successor to the rear-wheel drive, drift-legend Corolla AE-86 takes shape with a modified Subaru Impreza chassis and Toyota badges as the FT-86 concept.

Mitsubishi PX-MiEV Plug-in Hybrid

Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV Plug-in Hybrid: Powered by a new proprietary plug-in hybrid system, which significantly extends the frequency a hybrid vehicle is driven in all-electric mode, the 2009 Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV promises a fuel economy in excess of 117.6 mpg in a mid-size crossover body. The new plug-in hybrid system also combines differential electric motors with Mitsubishi’s trademark Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) all-wheel drive system and electronically controlled active yaw control.

Mazda Kiyora Concept: The ultra-stylish compact is an eco-friendly hatch-type car that Mazda imagines as a fun-to-drive yet responsible runabout for the future. Powered by automaker’s new SKY-G 1.3-liter gasoline engine that’s also set to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Kiyora has an estimated fuel economy of 75 mpg and could go into production very soon.

On a present motor show to Tokyo, Subaru Motor has presented one more hybrid — the big hatchback with four landing places and huge doors of type lambo.
As the basic power unit the new 2-l engine with direct injection of the fuel, placed in a forward part of the car here is used. Besides the engine in hybrid installation there are two more electric motors — 10Kw the electromotor located in front, and 20Kw — behind.
