One of the most annoying and frustrating things is that you find a dent on your new shiny car when you return from somewhere.Once you got a dent or a scratch on your car there can be a lot of problems dealing with the body repair shop. However this article can help you to a great deal in removing dents from your beloved rides.
Removing Dents From Doors.
The conventional technique used to remove dents by specialists is that they use tools from the back of the panel to push out the dent so that the dent is popped up and ultimately disappears.Alternatively an M shaped device known as a dent puller which is with a screw handle can also be used.Using specialist heat glue you can stick the central stem to the dent. When it is set you undo the screw and the dent will pop out.At the end use a glue remover and just polish off the panel.
Paintless Dent Removal:At many times the dent is removed at the cost of the car paint and some people find it very hard to remove the dent without harming the paint. However paintless dent removing is much much cheaper than using a body shop and should be your first priority if you have to deal with a minor panel dent.
Removing dents is entirely possible to do without replacing a panel or needing paint. Our tips could result in saving you some precious bucks save which you have wasted on bodyshops.
In case of smaller or minor dents, paintless car dent repair is used.In this process specialized tools are used in order to remove these minor dents and it all starts from the outer edges of the panel. One has to be very conscious about the paint because the paint is not supposed to be scratched otherwise it will have double impact on the car owner.Firstly it will reduce the market value of the car as the car is no longer in its original position(regarding paint).Secondly it will enhance the cost to restore the car paint of that portion.
A"chemical" method of dent removal involves the use of a hot air blower.Hair drier can well be used for this purpose. Heat up the dent containing panel as much as possible and then quickly spray on CO2 on the hot panel. The sudden temperature change will cause the panel to come back to its original shape. This will not damage the car paint but this process is not considered to be reliable as such and will either work well or not at all so you will not risk damaging the panel.CO2 can be obtained from a fire extinguisher which contains CO2 and can be used for dent removing purpose.
PRECAUTION:
DO NOT TOUCH THE liquid CO2 or Nozzle of the sprayer.
Wheel Arch Dents:
Dents on these parts are considered to be more challenging to fix as the curvature of the panel often causes the paint to crack. So sequentially fixing the paint should be your first priority.A tool called touch up pen is used for this purpose it can also be used to avoid the car body to rust.
Next remove the inner wing lining and with the mentioned tools move the dent. If you are lucky the panel will ping back into shape and will require no or minimum beating and shaping. A block of wood and a clamp will allow you to put pressure on a wide area.Correct and Careful placement of the clamp ensures that the dent come to its normal shape straight away. The part of the hammer which contacts with the car body should be covered with a rubber as this will avoid scratching the back of the panel and causing rust.Make sure not to use anything with a sharp edge as this could prove to be even worse by scratching the paint or cause some additional dents.Panels with the right colour can be found from any breakers yard and replacing old wing with the new one can be simply done by just removing the front bumper and unscrewing the old wing and thats it.
In the end,if everything explained above fails you will require a body shop services.
A dent in the wing will usually mean that the wheel has been hit also, it is a good idea to get the bearings and wheel alignment checked or you could be paying out for new tires more frequently that you need to.

How to Boost Your Car's Horsepower

Car enthusiasts are often more eager to improve gas mileage and keep maintenance costs low than to maximize performance hence choosing for the economy which
is quite natural. That means most cars are born with the equivalent of a stuffy nose. Below are the ways to increase horsepower.
1. Upgrade to a free-flow aftermarket air filter.
* Buy a free-flow air filter that best fits your car.
* Open hood. Locate the air filter housing. which is the long pipe connecting the engine to a
square plastic box.
* Remove housing. You must ake sure that no dust enters into the filter housing.
* Remove the old filter but make sure that you remember that how it was fitted because you
will have to fit a new one.
* Take a slightly moist cloth and clean the inside of the box.
* Insert the new filter.
* Close housing box and thats it you are done.
2. Upgrade your engine's computer with a power module.
* Disconnect negative battery cable.
* Locate the car's computer. If unable to access car's computer seek guidance from your car
manual.
* Kill the computer's power by unplugging it.
* Plug in an after-market power module. Insert it between the wiring harness and the computer.
* Reconnect negative battery cable.
* Follow the module's instructions for starting car.
* Refill your car up with fuel and race with up to 30 extra ponies.
3. Upgrade your car's computer with a programmer.
* Programming devices modify or in other words upgrade the programming on your vehicle's
computer, allowing more horsepower, torque, and sometimes better fuel economy.
* After you purchase such device for your vehicle, read the instructions manual to install it.Each
programmers has its own way to install and work,so reading the manual is the only safe and
good option.
4. Upgrade to a free flowing exhaust
* First, determine the exhaust piping diameter of your exhaust.I repeat it measure the
diameter of the exhaust I repeat it measure the diameter of exhaust piping do not just
measure the diameter of your exhaust tip. Measure the pipe that comes out of your catalytic
converter,as its usually the smallest.
* Search online or in a store for a performance exhaust system for your car. Some online videos
on youtube or other sites may make your car sound appealing
* You'll have to find a "cat back" system. which run from catalytic converter to the end of the
exhaust piping.
* Go for a system that is 1/4 to 1/2 inches LARGER than the one your car came with from the
factory.More larger system may require dramatic modification to the engine.
* TOO free flowing exhaust can have a negative impact on low end torque, so you'll probably
want 1/4 inch for a 4 cylinder, 3/8 for a six and 1/2 for a v8.
* Cut the old system out yourself, and cut it just after the catalytic converter and leave an inch or
two to clamp or weld onto.Detach the rest of the exhaust system from the hangars.
* Position the new system in place (assuming you've assembled it) and weld or clamp it to the
spot you just cut. Reinstall the hangers that you removed.
* Start the car and feel the energy of a good 10-15 hp increase.
